Congratulations to Wendy's opening a sparkling new store on Madison Blvd. Also, welcome to O'Kelly's opening in the former Pizza Hut building beside Hardees on the Blvd - O'Kelly's has been delivering sandwiches, pastries and salads to Roxboro for some time from their Danville location.

THINGS TO DO - Jingle on Main is Thursday 12/5/13 in Uptown Roxboro 5-9. Many activities for everyone include: Luminaries on Main, Christmas Tree Lighting, Ornament making for kids, free hayrides, art exhibit, movies at the Kirby, photos with Santa and much more. Businesses will be open with specials for Christmas. See attached flyer.
Porsche by Design is a magnificent display of this icon of a car in Raleigh at the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh. It doesn't matter if you are a Porsche fan or not, this display is something to see. It will be there until 1/2/14. See more at this link. I know Ms. Drysdale will drive her Porsche over there soon!
COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS – Roxboro Christmas Parade is Saturday 12/14/13 at 2:00 in Uptown Roxboro. This old time favorite brings back childhood memories and is enjoyed by all ages. And of course Santa will be making his appearance before returning to the North Pole to get all those toys ready for the kids. Come out and enjoy on Main Street in Uptown Roxboro! T The annual Ham & Egg Fundraiser for Person County Rescue Squad is Saturday 11/23/13 5:00-10:00 at the rescue squad building on Leasburg Road behind the old bus garage. Eat in or take out $6. This is always a well attended event so please go by and get a great breakfast and help support our rescue squad - they are vital to Hyco Lake in water related accidents.

You can find pictures and more on their Facebook page at this link. .png) .png) Johnston County Hams - I recently worked in Goldsboro and went with a co-worker to Johnston County Hams in Smithfield. I brought home a cooked, spiral cut ham and a real salt-cured country ham. Needless to say they both are great and I'll be going back there or ordering online in the future. It's hard to find their hams in local retail as they sell primarily wholesale and to private labels. I think it's a real find and reminds me of the hams Daddy used to get from the Boyettes and Mom used to cook. I can guarantee you'll like these!
ADVISORY –
Burglaries around the lake continue and the Person
County Sheriff's department needs our help. Be aware of any
vehicles that are not normally seen in your area and even some
that are such as commercial trucks and vans. Just because it
looks like a plumber or other service, it doesn't mean they are
legit so notice the service truck and if it looks suspicious.
Write down the license tag number and turn over to the
Sheriff's department for review. This has been going on long
enough now that we should be able to catch the thieves.
Christmas time is also a signal that the home may not be lived
in full time if no decorations are up so put up some decorations
and set light timers for security and let your neighbor know to
be on the lookout. We also have some excellent security and
alarm companies around Roxboro so if you need a recommendation,
let me know!

You can now get a text message or email if the lake level is at a parameter you set. I’ve set my notice to occur at 411.5 feet which is 1 foot above normal.
