LOCAL BUSINESS –  The Sheetz in Roxboro is coming along nicely on Madison Blvd.

The Woodside Inn in Milton is offering Bed and Breakfast along with party rentals and more.  Check them out at: www.woodsideinn.com

Also now back open is the former Brown’s Seafood in Yanceyville named “Hushpuppies” near the old Courthouse in downtown Yanceyville. Seafood and other selections available.  I remember the seafood and hushpuppies were very good at Brown’s. Seems his son is now operating the establishment.

The Oak Tree Tavern at VIR Resort has specials so check out our homepage for the details at: www.hycolake.com  Also during the month on each Friday night the Oak Tree Tavern will have dinner music from 5:30 to about 9:00.  Come on out and enjoy the tavern or dining room with a great meal and refreshments! Check our calendar at www.hycolake.com to see who the other performers are.

Don’t forget that Monday nights at Oak Tree Tavern at VIR is still doing the Steak, Spud and Suds
 - dinner special for only $9.99 – we went this past Monday night and had a great meal. And on Weds nights, Pints N Pounds – pint of beer and pound of chicken wings for only $6!  See all the info on VIR including upcoming races including the SCCA and NASCAR open testing at:www.virnow.com

 COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS –

Saturday April 5th – Roxboro Presbyterian Church is having an indoor yard sale in the fellowship hall starting at 8:00.  I know there are nice things there because I carried several from my wife’s collection of shoes and clothes!  All marked $5 or less.  Also bake sale and hot dogs so stop by and make a purchase.  Proceeds all used for charity.  The Church is beside Biscuitville on Madison Blvd.

PERSONAL FAVORITE –  Every year about this time I break out the Suspend SC spider and insect control. If you live near woods and/or water like a lot of us, we all have to deal with those spiders, thousand leg things, fleas, ticks, roaches, beetle bugs and more.  Suspend SC is good for all these and isn't harmful for the pets and humans. I haven’t found it anywhere locally but Amazon delivers to my door step! Great for the boat house also.

ADVISORY –  Remember the sun screen.  The days are getting longer and the time we spend outdoors is increasing so remember to use that sun screen!

Spring has sprung so summer can’t be too far off.  Remember those hot days when the sun was beaming in and you wished you could let in the light but not the heat? Well it is time to act now.  Carolina Solar with 3M window film products can fix you right up. See them or contact them at: www.carolina-solar.com

Need a loan or thinking about refinancing?  Then give Erika Griffin a call.  Another one of our lake residents who knows Hyco and how to assist you.  See her ad on our homepage at: www.hycolake.com or directly at: www.cimginc.com

Speaking of Hyco Lake residents and knowing Hyco, West and Woodall Real Estate can also help you.  Whether buying, selling or renting, they can help.  We get many calls for rentals and I know West and Woodall have several. See their ad on www.hycolake.com also or click here: www.hycolakeproperty.com/

LAKE LEVEL – You can always get real-time data on the www.hycolake.com web site.  The USGS webpage now shows you the elevation above sea level.  410.5’ is normal level.  You can now get a text message or email if the lake level is at a parameter you set.  I’ve set my notice to occur at 411.5 feet which is 1 foot above normal.  This would be the time I need to remove stuff on the dock and make sure the boats are raised high enough to keep them on the lifts!  See the link on the USGS site or click here.

Welcome to several new members who have registered on our email list this month.  If you know of someone who you think would enjoy our Hyco News, have them sign up online or just email me their address. Join our newsletter.
