For 2012, Heacock Classic Gold Cup Historic Races & Car Show pays tribute to the great cars and drivers that were present that weekend of August 3-4, 1957. Old friendships & cherished memories will return with every turn of the tire as VIR continues the tradition of its annual Gold Cup Historic Races & Car Show. The car show will take place on Saturday with the cost of a weekend or Saturday ticket including your fee to enter the car show. Car Show registration will be at the Gallery from 8:00 am to 10:00 am and the car show running from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Two trophies will be awarded: Peoples Choice and Sponsors Choice. Touring laps for car show participants will be held on the Patriot Course on Saturday afternoon. Shine up that car and drive it on track.

Hyco Marina and Outfitters is now being operated by new owners Theresa and Barry Joyce. They are getting geared up and will soon have their lotto and wildlife license to offer these services. They pretty much have everything you expect for a convenience store and even more fishing supplies and camping supplies for the local customers. They also plan to rent boats and canoes so remember them when your need these for an outing. LAKE LEVEL – You can always get real-time data on the www.hycolake.com web site from USGS or click here. The USGS webpage now shows you the elevation above sea level. 410.5’ is normal level. You can now get a text message or email if the lake level is at a parameter you set. I’ve set my notice to occur at 411.5 feet which is 1 foot above normal. This would be the time I need to remove stuff on the dock and make sure the boats are raised high enough to keep them on the lifts! See the link on the USGS site or click here.
