Happy Fourth of July!

LOCAL BUSINESS – Lakeside Re-opens - Lakeside (Formerly Warm Waters) has reopened with new owners. We've seen a lot of activity there so stop in and say hello soon.

The Oak Tree Tavern at VIR Resort has specials so check out our homepage for the details at: www.hycolake.com Also during the month on each Friday night the Oak Tree Tavern will have dinner music from 5:30 to about 9:00. Come on out and enjoy the tavern or dining room with a great meal and refreshments! Check our calendar at www.hycolake.com to see who the other performers are. We've been there the last couple of Fridays and had great meals and good entertainment.

Don’t forget that Monday nights at Oak Tree Tavern at VIR is still doing the Steak, Spud and Suds dinner special for only $9.99 –

We hear that the former Karma restaurant on Old Durham Road is to re-open very soon with upscale dining.

We're also hearing that a new business is going in the old Pizza Hut building - more soon on this.

ENTERTAINMENT - Keep up with the latest entertainment on our Calendar on the homepage at www.hycolake.com We’ve updated the calendar on the site so check it out for local events. Click on an event to get more detail.

COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS – Optimist Golf Tournament July 27th at RCC.

- Personality Festival August 23 & 24th

- Several productions at the Kirby this season - see all their info at: http://www.personcounty.net/index.aspx?page=984 I even hear Elvis is on the way!

Welcome to Evan and Jennifer Walker - new minister and wife at Roxboro Presbyterian Church. We hate to see Dr. Effird go but know he will be back in our area from time-to-time.

PERSONAL FAVORITE – Have you been by Hyco Marina yet and tried their ice cream?? Well if you haven't make a point to go by and try it. If you like Banana Pudding, then try their Banana Ice cream with Vanilla wafers and bananas in it - gooood! Also they are very well stocked and have fresh meats and vegetables so stop in for a real treat. Need a boat for a day or weekend? Ask about their two rental pontoons.

AT&T has upgraded their lake service to 4G so you zoom on the phone while on the boat!

I've noticed a lot of May flies on some of the boat docks in spider webs. Try spraying with Suspend SC to control the spiders and bugs. http://www.amazon.com/Suspend-Insecticide-Roaches-Professional-Control/dp/B002Y57MGE

Also stopped by the Roxboro Farmers Market on Depot Street in Uptown Roxboro Friday. They are really getting in a lot of vegetables now and corn maybe this week. Also fresh pies by the Horner's! Stop by six days a week just down from the Christian Help Center.

If you live in the northern sections of Person County and do not get good cell coverage with Verizon, then fill out their form at this link: https://survey.verizonwireless.com/vzwsurvey/

ADVISORY – Law officials have their Booze it and Loose it campaign on so don't drink and drive cars or boats!

LAKE LEVEL – You can always get real-time data on the www.hycolake.com web site from USGS or click here. The USGS webpage now shows you the elevation above sea level. 410.5’ is normal level. You can now get a text message or email if the lake level is at a parameter you set. I’ve set my notice to occur at 411.5 feet which is 1 foot above normal. This would be the time I need to remove stuff on the dock and make sure the boats are raised high enough to keep them on the lifts! See the link on the USGS site or click here.
