PERSONAL FAVORITE –  The corn is in at Riley’s Produce on N. Main Street – had N.C. corn this week twice from Riley’s. I think he said it is Silver Ice and it is tender, juicy and sweet.  I cut the ends off, wrap in cling wrap, and microwave 6 ears for 12 minutes turning once midway.  Then push the whole ear out of the shuck from the small end leaving silks and shuck all intact but leaving the corn silk free – enjoy.

AT&T is scheduled to add service in the Semora/VIR Track area soon as a new cell tower has been erected in Caswell County just off of Hwy 57 between Semora and Milton on the left.  I don’t have an in-service data as yet but this will certainly improve cellular coverage in the VIR area – as long as you are an AT&T customer!

If you live in the northern sections of Person County and do not get good coverage with Verizon, then fill out their form at this link: https://survey.verizonwireless.com/vzwsurvey/

ADVISORY –  The heat is on so drink plenty of water during the next several days.  Even if drinking other things, you still need that water!

ADVERTISER HIGHLIGHT –  Pointer and Associates Prudential Realty has been busy of late.  If you are thinking about selling or buying a home, now is the time before prices go up and inventory goes down. Our neighbors work at Pointer and I can tell you first hand they have been busy! Call them at: 336.597.5544

LAKE LEVEL – You can always get real-time data on the www.hycolake.com web site from USGS or click here.  The USGS webpage now shows you the elevation above sea level.  410.5’ is normal level.  You can now get a text message or email if the lake level is at a parameter you set.  I’ve set my notice to occur at 411.5 feet which is 1 foot above normal.  This would be the time I need to remove stuff on the dock and make sure the boats are raised high enough to keep them on the lifts!  See the link on the USGS site or click here.
