Keep up with the latest entertainment on our
Calendar on the homepage at www.hycolake.com
We’ve updated the calendar on the site so check it out for local
events. Click on an event to get more detail.
COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS – Our local Roxboro
Rotary Club is having their annual fundraiser. They are
selling Charmin bath tissue and Bounty Paper towels by the case.
Now I know every one of you use these products and have to buy them so
why not help support our local causes by making a purchase?
I’ll make it even easier by doing it online at this link: http://www.roxbororotaryclub.org/orderform.htm
And, we deliver to you on the Friday before Thanksgiving so what’s
you excuse for not buying?? You can rest assured that there is
no overhead, no cut going to a national organization or any other
reduction in the funds used here locally. Past donations have
been with an organization that I’m sure you support like: Person
County Rescue Squad, Roxboro Community School, PCC WWII Scholarship,
Richie Jones Scholarship, Christian Help Center, Roots and Wings, 5th
grader dictionaries, Youth for Christ, Boy/Girl Scouts and many more.

PERSONAL FAVORITE –
ADVISORY – Also, if you are an AT&T
Wireless customer and have noticed some outages on the Hyco Lake
tower and called AT&T, you may have had a problem reporting the
problem in that AT&T can’t locate our tower. The
technician will use your zip code to look for towers within about 3
miles so if you give them the Roxboro, Leasburg or Semora zip code,
they may not find the tower. The tower site is identified as: AT&T
Site ID Lake Hyco 368-424
So when you call, give them the site ID and they
will look to see if there are problems. Many times they’ll
just note the call and after several calls may then investigate
further. If more people give them the Site ID then maybe they
will look into it sooner. Call 800-331-0500
I also understand that all the AT&T sites are to be upgraded soon
to the latest technology which should greatly enhance data speeds. I
talked to the tower crew working in the Hill Street site this week and
he said they are in town to upgrade all the sites.
If
you live in the northern sections of Person County and do not get good
coverage with Verizon, then fill out their form at this link: https://survey.verizonwireless.com/vzwsurvey/

LAKE LEVEL – You can always get
real-time data on the www.hycolake.com
web site from USGS or click
here. The USGS webpage now shows you the elevation
above sea level. 410.5’ is normal level. You can now get
a text message or email if the lake level is at a parameter you set.
I’ve set my notice to occur at 411.5 feet which is 1 foot above
normal. This would be the time I need to remove stuff on the
dock and make sure the boats are raised high enough to keep them on
the lifts! See the link on the USGS site or click
here.
