VIR Kart Race – “Running Wide Open” sponsored
by the Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce turned out great.
If you haven’t heard about it from a participant, take my word that
it was all-day fun. The event next year will be held in April.
Be sure to start getting your team together now. I hear they may
have a “girls only” race also so that ought to be fun – go
Buffy! Clyde Kelly also wants to put a weight penalty on me –
we’ll see! I suggest going out there and practicing from now
until April Clyde. ;)
PERSONAL FAVORITE – I’ve got to
say my best new hobby is racing the Karts at VIR. It is
addictive. See more info at: http://experiencevir.com/attractions/karting.php
ADVISORY – Also, if you are an AT&T
Wireless customer and have noticed some outages on the Hyco Lake
tower and called AT&T, you may have had a problem reporting the
problem in that AT&T can’t locate our tower. The
technician will use your zip code to look for towers within about 3
miles so if you give them the Roxboro, Leasburg or Semora zip code,
they may not find the tower. The tower site is identified as: AT&T
Site ID Lake Hyco 368-424
So when you call, give them the site ID and they
will look to see if there are problems. Many times they’ll
just note the call and after several calls may then investigate
further. If more people give them the Site ID then maybe they
will look into it sooner. Call 800-331-0500
I also understand that all the AT&T sites are to be upgraded soon
to the latest technology which should greatly enhance data speeds. I
talked to the tower crew working in the Hill Street site this week and
he said they are in town to upgrade all the sites.
ADVERTISER HIGHLIGHT - Well I picked on Clyde
Kelly some so maybe I should plug him as our highlight this week!
Clyde reports more home activity around the lake so if you are
interested in buying or selling, give Clyde a ring.

LAKE LEVEL – You can always get
real-time data on the www.hycolake.com
web site from USGS or click
here. The USGS webpage now shows you the elevation above sea
level. 410.5’ is normal level. You can now get a text
message or email if the lake level is at a parameter you set.
I’ve set my notice to occur at 411.5 feet which is 1 foot above
normal. This would be the time I need to remove stuff on the
dock and make sure the boats are raised high enough to keep them on
the lifts! See the link on the USGS site or click
here.
