COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS –  There are many so check out our calendar on our homepage at the bottom: www.hycolake.com

If you are a graduate of Person High School in the class of either 1970 or 1971 and are not on their e-mail contact list, let me know and I can get your email address added to the contact list.  The class of 1971 is having their 40 year reunion this July 16th.

PERSONAL FAVORITE –   Bonnie and I have gone to lunch at the Mayflower in Roxboro several days lately.  They currently have lunch specials for $5 including drink.  Try the baby flounder and shrimp.  It is good and the best deal going right now in the area.

ADVISORY – I understand that the NC Wildlife Officers now have a new method of checking boaters for alcohol so please do not drink and boat drive.

N.C. Sales tax rate drops by 1% today.  Now at 6.75%.  We’re still a little higher than Danville at 5% but at least closer than we were!

Also, if you are an AT&T Wireless customer and have noticed some outages on the Hyco Lake tower and called AT&T, you may have had a problem reporting the problem in that AT&T can’t locate our tower.  The technician will use your zip code to look for towers within about 3 miles so if you give them the Roxboro, Leasburg or Semora zip code, they may not find the tower.  The tower site is identified as: AT&T Site ID Lake Hyco 368-424

So when you call, give them the site ID and they will look to see if there are problems.  Many times they’ll just note the call and after several calls may then investigate further.  If more people give them the Site ID then maybe they will look into it sooner. Call 800-331-0500  I also understand that all the AT&T sites are to be upgraded soon to the latest technology which should greatly enhance data speeds. I talked to the tower crew working in the Hill Street site this week and he said they are in town to upgrade all the sites.

We have one reader with a pontoon boat for rent.  We get several inquiries each year from people desiring to rent a pontoon boat for the week or weekend.  We also added this to our database of services so you can search using “rental” on this page http://www.hycolake.com/ServiceListing.aspx and you will get a list of all the rentals including this pontoon boat.

     $200.00 a day with a $400.00 deposit

if rented for the weekend it would equate to $150.00 a day

call James Pleasants at 336-234-9595 with all inquiries.

LAKE LEVEL – You can always get real-time data on the www.hycolake.com web site from USGS or click here.  The lake level is back to normal.  The USGS webpage now shows you the elevation above sea level.  410.5’ is normal level.  You can now get a text message or email if the lake level is at a parameter you set.  I’ve set my notice to occur at 411.5 feet which is 1 foot above normal.  This would be the time I need to remove stuff on the dock and make sure the boats are raised high enough to keep them on the lifts!  See the link on the USGS site or click here.
