LOCAL BUSINESS – Hyco Boats and Boards has relocated up the street on Hwy 119 near the ABC store in Semora.

Flat River Farms and Nursery  will be open Saturday, April 16th at 9:00. We will have tomatoes (and they are good), bedding plants, herbs, hanging basket and vegetable plants. Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce has cancelled the Running Wide Open event for Saturday 4/16/11 due to the weather forecast.  It is going to be rescheduled for the fall.

 

Shrimp Fest presented by the Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce May 5th - Great food, music and entertainment.  $35 person and well worth it for all this.  Get your tickets early by calling the Chamber at 599-8333  Band of Oz providing the entertainment. To be held at the 501 Flea Market building (Old Bromma)  5:30 – 8:30

 

ENTERTAINMENT  - The entertainment scene is in high gear in the area.  Warm Waters at Hyco is having entertainment most every Friday and Saturday nights along with holiday specials. Upper Level is scheduled for this Saturday. Turbulence Band will be there 4/23. The Pizazz Band will be at The Flaming Star (Club 119) on 4/23.

COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS –  Community Shred Day at Roxboro Savings Bank - On Saturday, April 16th, Roxboro Savings Bank will host its 2nd Annual Shred Day with a Food and Pet Supplies Drive from 8:00 to 11:00 at our Main Street parking lot.  Individuals may bring up to 4 boxes or 100 pounds of old papers, bank statements, etc. to shredded on site.  All we ask is a non-perishable food or a pet food/supplies donation.  This event is for individuals only – business records are not allowed for community shredding.  We hope everyone will take the opportunity to clean out those old papers, etc. and come get them shredded in a secure manner.  Drive up service is provided and your materials can be unloaded by the staff of Roxboro Savings or some folks like to “escort” them to the shred truck themselves!

 

Easter Sunrise Service Concord United Methodist Church will host this year’s Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 24, at 7 a.m.  Breakfast will be served in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. This joint service with Concord and Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church has been a long standing tradition and is a great way to celebrate this cherished Christian holiday.  It should be a beautiful spring morning, perfect for an outdoor service.  The community is cordially invited to attend. Concord UMC will also have its traditional 11 a.m. service on Easter Sunday.

 

There is also a multidenominational Easter Sunrise service in Uptown Roxboro at Merritt Commons.  Everyone is invited.  7:00 AM

 

Enos Slaughter recognition at the Good Morning Coffee Hour on April 27 at 8:00 at Golden Corral Restaurant.  The public is invited to attend.  Sponsored by the Person County Tourism Development Authority and planned by the Person County Museum.  The Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the event.

 

Concord United Methodist Church will hold its annual Indoor Yard Sale on Saturday, April 30, 2011, from 8 AM (no early birds) to 1 PM.  Furniture, sporting goods, clothing, plants, kids’ items, etc!  Come find Treasures Galore!  Proceeds go to Woodland Elementary School.
