10/14/2010LOCAL BUSINESS – Don’t forget that Friday
Oct. 16th is Bosses Day! Outer Banks Seafood and Country Buffet has
change their name and format to P&B Cafeteria. Cell Update – American Tower reports
that the Hyco Tower has been delayed due to waiting on inspections.
This is not the kind of report that I like to give and looks bad on
Person County. The tower was ready for inspection on 8/29/10 but
just now received final inspection so the power can be turned on.
This will probably result in a in-service date sometime in November or
December. I understand the delay was due to the County contractor of
CMS who is responsible for inspecting the tower. Also, no other carriers such as Verizon or US
Cellular have applied to co-locate on the tower so for the next
several months at least, AT&T will be the only carrier on the
tower. AT&T only roams with T-Mobile so your Verizon or US
Cellular service will not benefit from the Hyco tower at this time.
If anything changes, I’ll let you know.

Here PERSONAL FAVORITE – Tired of walking the rails and straddling the Jet Ski while trying to cover it or just get on? I just about fell in the lake yesterday trying to cover my jet ski. Then maybe a “walk around” is the answer. Call Jamie Mundy to get one installed: 336-599-0946 Oak Tree Tavern at VIR Raceway. On
Monday nights, they have a steak, potato and beer or wine for only $6!
And, the steak was very tasty so that’s hard to pass up this kind of
deal. Don’t be intimidated by going to the facility near
Milton, NC. You enter the main entrance down to a guard post
where you just tell them you are going to the restaurant. Then
turn right at the bottom of the hill, go about ˝ mile past
registration and turn right up the hill to the Oak Tree Tavern.
They also have great dinners and specials other nights. We
frequently eat in the bar and Ryan does a nice job waiting on us.
I recommend you try it out especially on this Monday night! http://www.virnow.com/food-dining/oak-tree-tavern.html ADVISORY – There have been several
checks written on a closed account identified as J&J Mechanical in
Roxboro. Call the Police Department if you see any of these
checks. New boating law May 1, 2010 requires anyone

built, modified or any other type work over the water? Then call
Hyco Docks, Inc. They have built dozens of docks on Hyco and
have been around longer than any other dock builder I can think of.
