PERSONAL FAVORITE – Tired of walking the rails and straddling the Jet Ski while trying to cover it or just get on? Then maybe a “walk around” is the answer. Call Jamie Mundy to get one installed: 336-599-0946
Oak Tree Tavern at VIR Raceway. On
Monday nights, they have a steak, potato and beer or wine for only $6!
And, the steak was very tasty so that’s hard to pass up this kind of
deal. Don’t be intimidated by going to the facility near
Milton, NC. You enter the main entrance down to a guard post
where you just tell them you are going to the restaurant. Then
turn right at the bottom of the hill, go about ˝ mile past
registration and turn right up the hill to the Oak Tree Tavern.
They also have great dinners and specials other nights. We
frequently eat in the bar and Ryan does a nice job waiting on us.
I recommend you try it out especially on this Monday night! http://www.virnow.com/food-dining/oak-tree-tavern.html
ADVISORY – Several citations for drinking
while operating a boat of late on Hyco – please get a designated
driver or do not get on the lake while drinking! Also there was
a notice in the Courier=Times this week that the NC Wildlife Officers
will be on patrol for drinking while boating this labor day holiday.
New boating law May 1, 2010 requires anyone
under 26 years old to take boat safety course for operating boats or
jet skis or anything with over 10 HP engine. (Click
here for the NC Wildlife bulletin)
ADVERTISER HIGHLIGHT – Wallace Bradsher for
D.A. – This week, Sandy Pugh endorsed Wallace for DA. You
may remember that Pugh won the popular vote in Caswell County in the
Democratic Primary back in May 2010 but later decided to withdraw from
running. Pugh said that “The District Attorney’s office
needs a new direction, not a continuation of the practices of the
past. I urge all of my family, friends and supporters to vote for Wallace
Bradsher of District Attorney”. See more about Wallace at this

I’ll have to give a shout out to this past
edition of Hyco Lake Magazine! Even though I had an
article in there about the cell tower progress at Hyco, it is one fine
publication for our area. Great job Tracy and Janna. If
you don’t get a hard copy, you can read it online at: http://www.hycomagazine.com/
It’s not just about Hyco but about our community at large.
