COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS - Thanks to Dave
Zook and Clyde Kelly for the fireworks along the ski course
          – also others near the Person/Caswell line that I met at a party
          over the weekend.  Fantastic show!
PERSONAL FAVORITE –  Since the last
newsletter, I’ve had the opportunity to visit around some
surrounding restaurants.  Here is what I found!
Azariahs Olde Storehouse – 28 West Main,
Yanceyville, 694-6016 Tues-Fri lunch and dinner F&S – very worth
time to go over.  Larger room for groups.  Call for
reservations.  Steak, chicken, seafood, sandwiches, wines, beer,
          nice atmosphere.
Bonnie won a gift certificate filling out the
Reader’s choice survey in the Caswell Messenger so we stopped by to
take picture and went by Yoders Country Market – hard to find
stuff and have homemade chocolates made in store.  Dried apples,
sharp hoop cheese and pickled okra – yum.  See more info at: http://www.yodersmart.com
          It’s worth the trip!
Steaks
on the Square in Yanceyville.  I mentioned that Bonnie
won a gift certificate and it was for Steaks on the Square.
We went last Saturday night and had a great meal.  They cook
using hickory coals and you can really tell it.  I had the 10oz
Ribeye and it was very tender and tasty along with garlic red mashed
potatoes and salad bar.  Their salad bar was well stocked and
even had my favorite sardines!  See more info at: http://www.steaksonthesquare.com/
This past Monday night, we went to the Oak
Tree Tavern at VIR Raceway.  On Monday nights, they have a
steak, potato and beer or wine for only $6!  And, the steak was
very tasty so that’s hard to pass up this kind of deal.
Don’t be intimidated by going to the facility near Milton, NC.
You enter the main entrance down to a guard post where you just tell
them you are going to the restaurant.  Then turn right at the
bottom of the hill, go about ½ mile past registration and turn right
up the hill to the Oak Tree Tavern.  They also have great dinners
and specials other nights.  We frequently eat in the bar and Ryan
does a nice job waiting on us.  I recommend you try it out
especially on this Monday night! http://www.virnow.com/food-dining/oak-tree-tavern.html

while operating a boat of late on Hyco – please get a designated

ADVERTISER HIGHLIGHT – Wallace Bradsher for
D.A. – I’ve known Wallace for several years and worked several
civic functions with him.  I’ve also used him in applying for a
grant for expanding high speed Internet in Person County.
Wallace is a dedicated father and Christian that would serve Person
and Caswell Counties well as our D.A.  Please give Wallace you
careful consideration and support for election to our D.A.  This
is an important job and will affect our livability in this area in the
future.  See more about Wallace at this link: http://www.bradsher4da.com/
I’ll have to give a shout out to this past
edition of Hyco Lake Magazine!  Even though I had an
article in there about the cell tower progress at Hyco, it is one fine
publication for our area.  Great job Tracy and Janna.  If
you don’t get a hard copy, you can read it online at: http://www.hycomagazine.com/
