PERSONAL FAVORITE –  Last week I
was home doing some painting so I decided to go down at lunch to see
Mickey Gentry at Hamlett’s Pizza in Semora.  I had heard that
his hotdogs were as good as any around so I tried them out.  Boy
were they good.  Mickey not only has pizza but sandwiches also
and he adds his own touch and if they aren’t the best around, then
he won’t serve them.  Stop in and tell him Randy sent you!
Also been getting some great Silver Queen corn
down at the Farmer’s Market on Depot Street.  We cut the
ends off leaving the shuck, wrap in about two layers of aluminum foil
and put on the Holland for 40 minutes.  The shucks and silks just
fall off and you add butter and salt and you have the perfect meal.
The shucks seem to keep in the corn flavor.
ADVISORY – The Person-Caswell Lake Authority
reminds you to pick up your new boat dock tag at the office.  All
docks have been reassigned new numbers so you’ll have to get the new
tag and put it up.  West
and Woodall has volunteered to go get your tag and put
it up if you can’t get up here soon to do it or if you don’t have
the means to mount the tag.  It is suppose to be located in a
place that can be viewed from the water.  Call or contact West
and Woodall at: (336)322-5800 or email to: whit@westandwoodall.com
Thanks West and Woodall for providing this as a service to the
Hyco community! The numbering system use the logic of starting at the
North Hyco Hwy 57 bridge going counterclockwise around the shoreline
and ending up back at the bridge so if you are near St. Georges, your
number may be single digits and if near Tommy Middleton, then 2400 or
          so.
Take notice that the N.C. Highway Patrol and
the N.C. Wildlife will be out in full force this holiday weekend.
If you are drinking, please get a designated driver or be prepared to
take a trip to the Person or Caswell County law enforcement center!
New boating law May 1, 2010 requires anyone
under 26 years old to take boat safety course for operating boats or
jet skis or anything with over 10 HP engine.  (Click
here for the NC Wildlife bulletin)
ADVERTISER HIGHLIGHT –  I talked
with Judy LaRue last week and she is excited about listing the
former Lane House on South Hyco.  This huge house has many
amenities that other lake houses do not have.  Call Judy to get
an appointment to see this house.  The Lane’s were the former
owners of the Lane Furniture Company.  See more at: http://www.judylaruehycolake.com/

is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass
