LOCAL BUSINESS – NAPA Store Now in Old Winn Dixie Location – The Roxboro NAPA store has moved into a larger store across from McDonalds where Winn Dixie used to be.  I’ve been in the store several times and it is very nice.  I talked with Tom Burnett and he said that they have the largest store in the region and have received an award from NAPA for increased sales and growth.  Congratulations Tom and all the store employees!

Roxboro Development Corporation currently has a study under way evaluating the possible development of an old store in uptown.  The store formerly known as Desert Sands is located across from the Kirby Theatre.  There is a online poll on our web site homepage asking for feedback on what we would like to be considered to go there.  Go to this page and look on the right side about mid-page and select your choice for developing this facility: www.esinc.net  Most of the respondents are asking for an upscale Bistro type restaurant – make your choice!

2010 Census - I know you’ve heard about the 2010 Census.  You should get your form next week at your home address.  It is simple and has no personal data.  Please fill it out and return it.  For every person not counted in Person County, we stand to lose $1500 in benefits and may lose representation in Congress.  If you do not complete the form, census takers will come to your home to get the information. You should count everyone living in the home as of April 1st.  If someone is at college, then they will get counted there.  I’ve had to use the census data extensively the last few months in applying for a Broadband Grant for Internet Expansion in Person County.  I can attest to the importance of this information being accurate – please fill out and return the form!!

PERSONAL FAVORITE – Don’t forget that April 22nd is Administrative Professionals day in Roxboro.  There is a recognition luncheon with a great speaker so sign up your valued administrative employees today.  Contact the Chamber to reserve your places. 599-8333

ADVISORY – The Person-Caswell Lake Authority reminds you to pick up your new boat dock tag at the office.  All docks have been reassigned new numbers so you’ll have to get the new tag and put it up.  West and Woodall has volunteered to go get your tag and put it up if you can’t get up here soon to do it or if you don’t have the means to mount the tag.  It is suppose to be located in a place that can be viewed from the water.  Call or contact West and Woodall at: (336)322-5800 or email to: whit@westandwoodall.com  Thanks West and Woodall for providing this as a service to the Hyco community! The numbering system use the logic of starting at the North Hyco Hwy 57 bridge going counterclockwise around the shoreline and ending up back at the bridge so if you are near St. Georges, your number may be single digits and if near Tommy Middleton, then 2400 or so.

New boating law May 1, 2010 requires anyone under 26 years old to take boat safety course for operating boats or jet skis or anything with over 10 HP engine(Click here for the NC Wildlife bulletin)
