COMMUNITY FUNCTIONS – Did you know that Person
County Crimestoppers has a web page and that tips can be submitted
online anonymously? There are many tips submitted online that go
anonymously to the law enforcement agencies. No personal data or
tracking info is collected on the tip and you are assigned a tip
number so you can call in later and see if the tip resulted in an
arrest and payout from Crimestoppers. Everything is done
anonymously so there is no tracking of where the tip came from or who
received the payout. For more information or to make a tip or
donation, go to this link: http://www.personcountycrimestoppers.com/
Electronic Solutions,

Everyone probably knows it is local election time
in Person County. Last week, Charlie Buck Oakley came to
see me and asked that I get out the information for him concerning his
campaign for Sheriff of Person County. We are glad to provide this
information as a public service to our county. I asked Charlie
Buck what message he wanted to send out and he said; “My door
will always be open and my phone number listed”. He also said
that he was considering many changes to insure the officers were in
the areas they are protecting. He has several fund raisers upcoming
and is available to come speak to your group or organization.
His web site is: www.charliebuckoakley4sheriff.com
and his email is: vote3charile@charliebuckoakley4sheriff.com
He reminds you that the last day to register to vote is April 9th,
early voting begins April 15th and ends May 1st
and the primary election is May 4th. If you are
willing to help, give them a call at: 336 504-3800
Also Dempsey Dunn is running for sheriff.
Dempsey says he has the desire to address drug and gang problems in
the County and to make it safer for kids and all citizens. You
can see information on Dempsey at www.dunn4sheriff.org
I can personally attest to Dempsey’s dedication to his work and
dedication to the job at hand. When I was Manager of Maintenance
at CP&L, we hired contractor firms to assist in heavy maintenance
of the plant. Dempsey was a contract supervisor and I knew I
could always count on him to get the job done. He was always receptive
to guidance and always followed up after the job. If he
committed to do something, you could rest assured it would be done.

PERSONAL FAVORITE – Don’t forget that
April 22nd is Administrative Professionals day in
Roxboro. There is a recognition luncheon with a great speaker so
sign up your valued administrative employees today. Contact the
Chamber to reserve your places. 599-8333
ADVISORY – The Person-Caswell Lake Authority
reminds you to pick up your new boat dock tag at the office. All
docks have been reassigned new numbers so you’ll have to get the new
tag and put it up. West
and Woodall has volunteered to go get your tag and put it up
if you can’t get up here soon to do it or if you don’t have the
means to mount the tag. It is suppose to be located in a place
that can be viewed from the water. Call or contact West and
Woodall at: (336)322-5800 or email to: whit@westandwoodall.com
Thanks West and Woodall for providing this as a service to the
Hyco community! The numbering system use the logic of starting at the
North Hyco Hwy 57 bridge going counterclockwise around the shoreline
and ending up back at the bridge so if you are near St. Georges, your
number may be single digits and if near Tommy Middleton, then 2400 or
so.
New boating law May 1, 2010 requires anyone
under 26 years old to take boat safety course for operating boats or jet skis
or anything with over 10 HP engine. (Click

Quote of the
day - A
veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is
someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made
payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of
"up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are
way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. --
