CELL TOWER UPDATE – I talked to the independent cell tower operator last week about the status of the cell tower his was planning to move out of Cary to Hyco Lake.  The tower is still standing in Cary waiting on the completion of paperwork (bureaucracy).  The operator still has plans to locate the tower at Hyco and has received favorable feedback from cellular operators who would co-locate if the tower were available.  With the economy in slowdown, it is good to hear that some expansion is still going forward!  I talked with the tower firm again this week and it looks like things are starting to move on the tower relocation.  Sites are presently being analyzed to determine the best location to serve the largest number of users in the Hyco area.

As a sideline, I am on a committee working to bring high speed Internet to all parts of Person County.  Hopefully the latest Economic Recovery Package the Feds are working on will trickle down here to rural America!  Providing high speed Internet to Person County is doable – it just takes money to expand to the less dense populated areas.

ADVISORY –  Be sure to shop local to keep our dollars working to support our local businesses.  With the economic slowdown, it is important for us to spend our dollars with the locally owned stores.  Market data reflects that money spent in locally owned stores gets returned 5-fold to the community where out of town owned stores result in a fraction return locally.  Help keep your friends in a job, taxes low and services continued by shopping with local merchants.  The job you save may be your own!

PERSONAL FAVORITE –  We stopped by Lee Farm Fresh Produce and Seafood last Saturday and came out with our arms full of fresh seafood, hoop cheese and other items.  Bonnie fried the oysters one night and I steamed the crab legs and some shrimp the next night.  All of it was outstanding!  They even filleted some fresh flounder while we were there.  They have many different fresh fish from the coast of N.C. so check them out today.  Open Tuesday – Saturday on Madison Blvd. next to the Cookout.  Call ahead 598-2916 if you want to order ahead or have questions. They have a lot of all-natural products so do yourself a favor and go by today.

If you need sheetrock installed or repaired, painting, renovations, textured ceiling repair, siding work, tile or cabinet work, Luis Marin is the man to call.  He recently repaired plaster in our Church and does very good work on tough jobs! Call Luis at 599-0574 today.
