CELL TOWER UPDATE – American Towers is planning a cell tower on Hyco on Wagstaff Road.  They will fly a test balloon on Saturday, Nov 7 from 10:00AM until 2:00PM at the site.  This is to give interested parties a chance to view the proposed tower height.  They plan to apply for a site permit with the County shortly thereafter.  Assuming everything goes as planned, the cell tower could be in operation by March 2010.  Let your County Commissioners and Planning and Zoning Board know how badly we need this tower!  If you need more justification to help us communicate our need, see this link: http://www.hycolake.com/TeleInfo.htm which is also located on the lower left part of our homepage.  American is also planning two other towers which include the Mayo Lake area and 501 North.

PERSONAL FAVORITE – Fall and Winter are not my favorite times of the year but this time of year does bring things I like!  Tricia’s Espresso in Uptown Roxboro has homemade soups during this time of year.  I frequently get the potato soup or the chicken/vegetable and have a three-cheese grilled sandwich or BLT and a cup of hot mocha.  Man, this hits the spot especially on a cool day which I consider to be anything less than 70 degrees.  See hours and more info by click here.

ADVISORY – Call 211 for local assistance.  Did you know that if someone needs help from a local agency but doesn’t know where to turn in Person County you can call 211 for assistance?  You will be advised to which agency can assist you.  You may know someone who is homeless, hungry or need help paying their utility bills so tell them to call 211.  This is maintained by United Way. For more help with local agencies, click here for search options.
