I
don’t usually make a political statement in this newsletter unless
it has an influence on our community and specifically issues related
to jobs and business investment. I feel we need to go a
different direction in Roxboro and that can best be handled by Mark
Phillips who is running for Mayor of Roxboro. I know our
current mayor has tried to do his best, but it is time to get someone
who is supportive and works hard for more jobs and business investment
in Roxboro and Person County. This takes someone who is
dedicated, energetic, informed, active in the community, is a leader
and works hard daily for our citizens who are the tax payers. Mark has
displayed his skills as a City Councilman the last several years.
I’ve worked beside of Mark recently with several organizations and
have always been impressed with his knowledge, energy and willingness
to make things better. I always see him involved in volunteer efforts.
Mark isn’t running on his past but on what he does today for our
community. Mark also watches out for waste and works hard to keep our
taxes low while providing good services. I’ve attended several
meetings over the last two years that include the City Council and
related events. If you haven’t attended any of these meetings,
then take it from me, we need a strong leader as Mayor. We need
someone who isn’t just a “meet and greet” person but a Mayor
with strong leadership skills that is organized and represents Roxboro
as an informed professional. I know Mark Phillips is that
person. If you are a registered City voter, get out and vote.
If you have children, parents or others who are in the City,
make sure they vote and encourage them to vote for Mark. We need
his leadership badly and we deserve to have informed, hard working
leaders in our City. For more info on the backgrounds of our
elected leaders, click
