10/03/08NOTICE – Person County Relay for Life has
been rescheduled for today Oct 3 and tomorrow 4th. LOCAL BUSINESSES – New Fresh Seafood Stand
Open – There is a fresh
seafood stand that is open on Thursday/Friday/Saturdays 10AM to 6PM
just beside the Youth for Christ warehouse on DanWin Drive off 158
West and 49 South approx ½ mile from Open Kettle. They actually
have live blue crabs (but will cook them for you), clams, shrimp/fish,
and will be getting oysters in the shell. We stopped by last
Friday and got Oysters and fresh shrimp – they even peeled and
deveined them while we were there. Some of the fish I saw were:
Flounder, Blackbass, Red Snapper, Whiting and others. They will
fillet the Flounder if you desire. Call ahead on Monday if you
desire something special as they go to the coast on Thursdays.

October 4th from 9am to 3pm. We welcome all who
wish to participate in this benefit. New Local Grown Produce Opens

building beside the new Cookout on Madison Blvd. They will have
local produce and also many additional items such as: cheese, candies,
coffee, jams, chow chow, side meat, Carolina Cubbard products,
pumpkins, honey and grass fed beef! Go by and check them out
Saturday. 614 N. Madison Blvd – 598-2916 I got a recent email from a reader who had a
great meal last night at Yamato’s. Here is what the
reader said: I wanted to give a
positive review for the new menu changes at Yamato…they now have
sushi and it’s great! Once they get their service piece
working a little better (their wait staffs need some training), the
food there is EXCELLENT – the combination dishes with chicken, filet
mignon, shrimp, etc. are really good and the noodles they serve are
really tender. I had the sushi last night and can highly
recommend the wasabi roll – very tasty and a beautiful presentation.
I’m looking forward to trying all of them eventually! So now you’ve got many reasons to come to town
on Saturday! ENTERTAINMENT – Warm Waters Restaurant will
have DJ Hollywood this Saturday night 10/4 after dinner hours. I’ve got some tickets left for Fridays at the
Crossing in Danville for tonight. 58 West will be there and
there is a car and motorcycle show. Gates open at 6. Let
me know if you want these free tickets. The Bosch series is also at VIR today thru
Sunday. See more info at: http://www.virclub.com/2008-gt-live/koni-challenge/gt-live/koni-challenge-series.html

Keep up with the latest entertainment on our Calendar. ADVISORY – We have been advised by
the RPD that there are counterfeit $20 bills being passed around our
area. The suspect is medium complexioned black male, mid 20s, corn
rows, with a very distinctive nose. May be accompanied by a
heavy set black female and they may have a child. Possibly
traveling in a old Honda. Be sure to use a test pin to check all
20s and 100s. COMMUNITY INFO – The Person County United
Way drive is currently underway. Please give so that area
organizations can benefit. See more info at: http://www.pcunitedway.org/
The
Roxboro Rotary Club is also in their Paper Drive Fundraiser to
help local and international organizations. This is a fund
raiser that has no overhead so all the profit goes to organizations
that the local Rotarians hand pick. You also get a usable
product such as Charmin toilet paper and Bounty paper towels so
there is no excuse for buying your paper products in bulk and making a
donation to area projects. They also deliver to your home or
business so you don’t even have to handle the products. At our
home, we use two cases of Charmin and one case of Bounty for the year
for two people so stock up! $50/case which includes 96 or 48
rolls of toilet paper and 30 rolls of paper towels. I’m sure
you are connected to one of these organizations that will benefit this
year: Scholarship
