NOTICE – Person County Relay for Life has been cancelled for today and Saturday – rescheduled for next weekend Oct 3 and 4th.

LOCAL BUSINESSES – New Fresh Seafood Stand Open – There is a fresh seafood stand that is open on Thursday/Friday/Saturdays 10AM to 6PM just beside the Youth for Christ warehouse on DanWin Drive off 158 West and 49 South approx ½ mile from Open Kettle.  They actually have live blue crabs (but will cook them for you), clams, shrimp/fish, and will be getting oysters in the shell.  We stopped by last Friday and got Oysters and fresh shrimp – they even peeled and deveined them while we were there.  Some of the fish I saw were: Flounder, Black bass, Red Snapper, Whiting and others.  They will fillet the Flounder if you desire.  Call ahead on Monday if you desire something special as they go to the coast on Thursdays. ADVISORY –  We have been advised by the RPD that there are counterfeit $20 bills being passed around our area. The suspect is medium complexioned black male, mid 20s, corn rows, with a very distinctive nose.  May be accompanied by a heavy set black female and they may have a child.  Possibly traveling in a old Honda.  Be sure to use a test pen to check all 20s and 100s.

COMMUNITY INFO – The Person County United Way drive is currently underway.  Please give so that area organizations can benefit.  See more info at: http://www.pcunitedway.org

The Roxboro Rotary Club is also in their Paper Drive Fundraiser to help local and international organizations.  This is a fund raiser that has no overhead so all the profit goes to organizations that the local Rotarians hand pick.  You also get a usable product such as Charmin toilet paper and Bounty paper towels so there is no excuse for buying your paper products in bulk and making a donation to area projects.  They also deliver to your home or business so you don’t even have to handle the products.  At our home, we use two cases of Charmin and one case of Bounty for the year for two people so stock up!  $50/case which includes 96 or 48 rolls of toilet paper and 30 rolls of paper towels.  I’m sure you are connected to one of these organizations that will benefit this year:

Scholarship to a graduating student at Person High School
Scholarship to a graduating student at Roxboro Community School
Antigua school supplies project
Christian Help Center
Pregnancy Support Center
Waccamaw Boys and Girls Home
