The area is active with many things to do this weekend around Hyco
Lake. First, there is a festival in Uptown Roxboro - Personality Uptown
has something for everyone. The Castaway's are playing at Merritt
Commons on main street tonight (Friday) with a wood dance floor
available for you shaggers from 7 to 11. There are also many food
vendors and a beer garden. On Saturday, there are activities and rides
all day along with information booths. For more information and the
schedule, see this link: http://www.roxboronc.com/pdf/Personality%20Uptown%20Poster07.pdf
And of course you can always find good food and drink at Lakeside
Grill and Dalton's Sports Bar in uptown Roxboro after the events.
We are also happy to announce that a new tenant will take over the
old Farmer's Supply Restaurant in Uptown Roxboro. Vesuvio's II will be
opening in the space where Farmer's Supply recently operated. For more
information, see this press release: http://www.historicroxboro.com/Farmers%20Supply%20Sold.pdf
The Danville Fair is also popular for lake goers - the fair runs from
Friday Sept 14 thru Saturday Sept. 22 with big names such as Clarance
Carter and Trent Tomlinson performing. Come on out to a good ol' local
fair. More information and schedule at this link: http://www.dpcfairgrounds.com/Fair.html
You are aware that the Hyco Lake level is low due to the recent
drought. Be careful when boating due to stumps and hidden land masses
being hazardous to your boat and prop. Stay away from gentle slopping
areas as they tend to indicate shallow water nearby. Normal water level
is 10.6 on the USGS gauging station and currently it is reading 7.85
which means the lake is down almost 3 feet. See the graph at this link: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nc/nwis/uv/?site_no=02077280&agency_cd=USGS
AT&T (Cingular) and US Cellular are still looking at possibly
expanding cell service to Hyco Lake. As soon as we have an update, we
will post it on our web site and email you. www.hycolake.com
There will be a motorcycle benefit ride for Relay for Life in Roxboro
also Saturday morning so if you are near 501 South around Eaton Corp.,
watch out for the some 200 motorcycles. You can still ride if you like
by registering at the ride from 8:30 to 10:00 Saturday in the Eaton
parking lot. $25 will get you lunch and a chance at fabulous door
prizes.
Have a good weekend and enjoy the extended summer on the lake!
